The professor shoots the photographer (in the Stata Center) 
Back before the snow befell Boston, MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) professor, Daniel Jackson, and I spent an enjoyable afternoon on the deck of the Frank Gehry-designed Stata Center on the MIT campus in Cambridge, MA. Originally, I was to be the only one manhandling (woman-handling?) a camera, but Daniel, an award-winning photographer as well as a computer science professor, decided to turn the tables on me.
I had actually photographed Daniel several years ago when I worked at MIT, but we got to know each other a bit better when we both attended the Maine Media Workshops in the summer. I had trained with Gregory Heisler, and he with Cig Harvey. We traded notes and impressions during mealtimes, and thanks to him, I hope to return and work with Cig Harvey as well.
Daniel, a delightful Englishman, was a delight to work with through and through, alternating thoughtfulness with levity as I photographed him. Both kind and intelligent, he was very curious about my lighting and process, getting some fun behind-the-scenes shots of both Tim, my assistant, and I.
